Although far from expert, I have been doing basic video editing and production for a couple of years now. Quik is just mind-blowing! It takes what would normally be potentially days of work and does it in moment, often much better than I could have myself.
In fact I now see myself more so working alongside Quik, helping it to learn what I think works and does not. Often my best results come from returning all the settings to defaults rather than trying to micro-manage it too much.
Oh, though I'm not a fan of their selection of tunes. Probably a taste thing, and it doesn't bother me anyway really because I find that hand-picked personal favourites via iTunes make for the best QuikFliks.

I wish they hadn’t abandoned Splice

This is a good app, but Splice is better. Because in Quik, you can’t turn off Kens Motion, you can’t stop things whizzing about. I just want to make simple videos with music, or talking videos with background music and it’s just not possible with this app. So I stick to Splice. If they do come back to Splice, I hope they add more royalty free music. Quik is only good for ‘action’ videos, family holiday videos, promos, that sort of thing. You can’t really use it to do a talking clip, or exercise video etc, because it does Kens Motion, pulses, moves clips all over the place and chucks stripes and dots at you. Lol I would say music wise, you can do more with adding your own music from your own library, which is harder to do on Splice, but then Spice has a bigger selection of royalty free music than Quik.
